Kildare midfielder Tommy Moolick has urged their critics to lay off.

Moolick admitted to the Kildare Nationalist that they side were left devastated by their defeat to Monaghan in the All-Ireland qualifiers last weekend.

The Lilywhites have come in for some criticism in recent times over not being consistent enough, but despite losing at the weekend, they did give it their all, according to Moolick.

"We tried hard all year; no one plays football and trains hard to then go out and lose," stated Moolick. "It was just pure devastation in the dressingroom, pure silence. It's hard to pick yourself up off the floor so soon after a game like that.

"We gave it our all and hopefully people realise that we don't go out to lose games. We gave it our all in the end, we tried our best and hopefully we did the people of Kildare proud." Tweet
