Flaherty eyes more silverware

July 30, 2014
Having guided Kildare to a third consecutive Leinster U21 'A' hurling title, captain Declan Flaherty is already looking ahead.

The Lilywhites secure their third title in a row courtesy of a one point win over Wicklow at St Conleth's Park last Wednesday evening.

Now, they go on to the All-Ireland semi final and Flaherty told the Kildare Nationalist that confidence is high in the squad.

"There's a lot gone into Kildare hurling this year," said Flaherty. "We weren't given much of a chance in the Christy Ring Cup but we went on and won that, we had four or five lads from that team involved with the under-21s and we knew that we were the backbone of this team.

"The All-Ireland title is the one we want now. It would be hard to be beaten there three years in a row so we want to make sure that we win it this year."
