Fixtures/Results
Congratulations to the Kildare senior hurlers who qualified for the quarter final of the Christy Ring cup with a comprehensive 2-21 to 1-16 victory over favourites Kerry in Newbridge last Saturday. All nine Celbridge players on the panel finished this game, an achievement any club would be proud of. They head to Navan next Saturday for a 2.30pm throw v Meath. The Kildare minor footballers are also in action next Saturday, they face Louth in Newbridge @3pm. The Kildare camogie team beat Dublin 2-09 to 2-03 last Sunday in the Leinster championship.
Well done to the U-16 camogie team who won their championship on Sunday when they defeated neighbours and arch rivals Maynooth 2-05 to 2-04 last Sunday. Indeed most of this team represented St. Wolstans in the Dublin Colleges final v Our Lady's, Terenure played on Monday and again they came away victorious on a score-line of 9-04 to 1-01. The senior footballers suffered their first defeat of the season last Sunday when they went under to Sarsfields 1-12 to 2-06. Let's hope they fare better next Sunday when they take on Suncroft in Hawkfield @6pm in the first round of the senior football championship. The senior B footballers had a very successful week defeating Maynooth last Wednesday 1-08 to 1-06 and Moorefield on Sunday 2-14 to 0-05. The Intermediate hurlers are at home to Naas on this Thursday @7.30pm. The senior hurlers will face Confey in the first round of this year's championship which will be played on the weekend of 30 June/1 July. The U-16 hurlers are in action this evening in a play-off with Coill Dubh to see who qualifies for the final v Naas next weekend. The game is in Hawkfield @7.30pm. The U-14 A footballers are at home to Sarsfields tomorrow evening @7.15pm and travel to Naas on Sunday morning for a 10.30am throw in, while the B team head to St. Laurence's tomorrow evening for 7.15 and are at home to Nurney on Sunday @10.30am.
Teenage Disco
The next teenage GAA Disco will be on this Friday 18th May 2012 from 8.30pm to 11.30pm. There will be NO admission before 8.20pm. This Disco is for first, second and third year students only. Under no circumstances will primary school children be allowed into the Disco. If the committee find that a person in attendance is in 6th Class, then they will be sent home. The current 6th Class will be allowed to attend in September 2012. Any adult help would, as always, be greatly appreciated.
Table Quiz
The U-14 Feile hurling team are holding a table quiz in the bar of the GAA on Saturday 26 May at 8.30pm to raise funds for their upcoming trip to the national finals in Dublin where they are representing Kildare. As it is on the same night as the Eurovision it's a welcome alternative to watching JEDWARD and should be enough of an encouragement for everyone to come along and support this team.
