Celbridge GAA Notes
May 08, 2012
Fixtures/Results
Well done to the Under 16B footballers who defeated Moorefield 2-18 to 0-4 in their league final yesterday. A fantastic achievement as the full squad are actually under 15, and a quarter of the panel had never played gaelic football up until this league campaign.
The third team footballers are away to Sallins this evening @7.30pm and will be at home to Caragh next Monday @7.30pm. The senior hurlers are at home to Éire Óg tomorrow, Wednesday @7.30pm while the Intermediates travel to Sarsfields on Thursday, also for a 7.30pm throw in. The senior footballers are away to Sarsfields next Sunday @3pm and the second team are at home to Moorefield @6pm on Sunday. The first round of the senior fotball championship will be played on Sunday 20th May, when Celbridge play Suncroft in Hawkfield @6pm.
The U-16 hurlers, fresh from two good victories last week, travel to Coill Dubh tomorrow for a 7pm throw in. A victory in this game will ensure a place in next Sunday's league final which will be played in St. Conleth's Park, Newbridge @12 noon.
Mark Kenneally
In a few short weeks Mark Kenneally, a former under age player with Celbridge GAA, will undertake something that the rest of us can only dream of, he will participate in the marathon at the London Olympics. This is an incredible feat and is testament to Marks dedication that to date he is the only Irish man to qualify and represent Ireland in this discipline. To help in his endeavours there will be a fund raising golf classic in Powerscourt Golf Club on Saturday 19th May. Please help support Mark by playing individually (you will be teamed up with other individuals) or as a team of four, €65 per person or €260 per team. Tee times are available from 09.30 - 13.00. Please spread the word and 'Support Your Local Olympian'.
