Murphy wants to be more greedy

May 02, 2012
Kildare hurler Tony Murphy believes the side must be more 'greedy' if they are to win the Christy Ring Cup.

Murphy has been part of the squad for the past ten years now and has yet to taste championship glory, despite the fact that the Lilywhites have contested one final and a number of semi finals.

However, with league success under their belt there is a renewed confidence in the squad and Murphy believes that they can drive on from here.

"You have to be selfish and greedy about it," Murphy stressed to the Kildare Nationalist. "You want to achieve something. You're not just there for the sake of playing with the county as much as an honour as that is.

"I remember lads when I was young trying to get this across; we're not here for a good time, we're here to win things. Now you really understand what they meant by that."
