Hurlers begin campaign
January 25, 2012
Kildare hurlers face a tough opening match of the competitive campaign as they take on GMIT in the Kehoe Cup on Saturday.
The Galway students are sure to have plenty of quality in their side and will provide stiff opposition for a Lilywhites' side that is expected to feature many new faces.
Wexford native Willie Sutherland begins his first full year in charge of Kildare, having taken over from Mick O'Riordan midway through last year's campaign.
And Sutherland has brought in Don McSweeney and Mattie Down as his selectors. The management team will be hoping for a prolonged run in the Kehoe Cup, in order to run the rule over a number of new players.
The game has an early throw in of 12.30 and will be played at St Conleth's Park, Newbridge.
