McGeeney expecting good atmosphere

Kildare manager Kieran McGeeney believes there will be a 'good atmosphere' at St Conleth's Park on Sunday.

The Lilywhites welcome All-Ireland champions Dublin to the Newbridge venue for the O'Byrne Cup semi final and even though it is only January, this clash warrants television coverage as TG4 have decided to screen the game live.

McGeeney feels that there won't be much learned from Sunday's encounter between the old rivals, but does believe that it will be an interesting meeting all the same.

"I don't know whether Sunday will tell us more or not," McGeeney stressed to the Leinster Leader. "If I thought the performance was going to determine my whole year I'd be going flat out, but it's not.

"What you are looking for is to see individuals and what they can give. What you find at this time of the year is that fellas that are looking to break onto the squad tend to play better than those that are on the squad already, because there is more at stake for them.

"It will be good. They will be fit and strong, that's one thing Pat has at his disposal is a strong panel. Hopefully St Conleth's Park will be full and there'll be a bit of an atmosphere."
