Dermot Earley remains a major doubt for Kildare's All-Ireland football semi-final against Down on Sunday.

The All-Star midfielder was forced off in the early stages of the quarter-final win over Meath after suffering a recurrence of a knee injury and, despite returning to training in recent days after minor surgery, Sunday's game could come too soon for him.

If, as expected, Earley is unable to start, Hugh Lynch will deputise for him.

Meanwhile, the GAA is anticipating an attendance in excess of 60,000 for Sunday's game at Croke Park. Tweet
