St.Kevin's played Leixlip in the second round of the Alridge Cup last Saturday afternoon and they can be pleased with there win in this exciting game. It was Leixlip who opened the scoring with a free after five minutes. Leixlip continued to dominate the game and got another five points on the trot with no reply from the home team. It was Eoghan Carew who opened the scoring for the Kevin's men with a free from the 21 metre line. Coming to the end of the half and the Kevin's men were struggling with the Leixlip sharp shooting but Brian Dunne broke out of defence and kicked a pin point ball over the top to put Eoghan Carew through and he placed the ball in the bottom corner of the net to give Kevin's the lift they needed. The teams went in at half time at a score of 1-2 to 0-7 in favour of Leixlip.
The second half began quick with Mick Kenny and Cathal O'Leary getting to grips around the middle. The teams continued to trade scores and both teams showed how determined they were to get the win. Eoghan Carew continued to stick over the frees but the Leixlip forwards showed their talent in front of the posts. With seconds left in the game Kevin's were awarded a free from the 14' right in front of the posts. The home team were two points down and needed a goal. That man Eoghan Carew put the ball down and caught the Leixlip defence napping and he kicked an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net. St Kevin's will be pleased with their win in this fast paced and open game.
Best for St Kevin's were Eoghan Carew, Brian Dunne, Jason Brosnan and Keith Fitzharris who made his debut start for Kevin's and was solid throughout.
