Kildangan GAA Notes

June 30, 2009
29/6/09 Tom Cross SFL Div.4 Kildangan 1-18 Monasterevin 1-6 Kildangan turned in one of their best displays of the season to defeat near neighbours Monasterevin in Kildangan in glorious conditions on Monday last. With both teams short a number of regulars it was Kildangan who settled first with an Andrew Casey point. With Padraig Casey and Dessie Murphy taking control of things in the middle of the field there was a plentiful supply of ball going into the Kildangan full-forward line where Andrew Casey and Johnny Murray were causing the Monasterevin defence lots of problems. Points by Andrew Casey 0-5, Stephen Quigley 0-4 and Johnny Murray 0-2 left Kildangan ahead 0-11 to 1-4 at the break. The Monasterevin goal coming from Wayne Carter from the penalty spot. An excellent goal by Johnny Murray goal after the re-start put clear daylight between the teams and Kildangan tightened their grip on the game with Tom Foxe excelling in the half-back line. Points from Padraig Casey 0-2 and Stephen Quigley 0-4 and Colin Christie 0-1 completed the Kildangan scoring with Monasterevin reliant on Carter for scores from placed balls. Final score Kildangan 1-18 Monasterevin 1-6. Best for Kildangan were David Lawler, Tom Foxe, Padraig Casey, Steven Quigley, Johnny Murray and Andrew Casey. For Monasterevin Wayne Carter excelled, Bill Holligan and Mark Clifford tried hardest.
