St Kevin's GAA Club notes

The under 21 team reached the championship final when they defeated St Edward's 2-8 to 2-3 in Straffan last Saturday. They had good displays from Pat Cox, Ronan Burke, Aeneas Murphy, Thomas Barron and Kevin Cahill and now go on to meet Kill in the final (check fixtures for details). The under 15 team beat Na Fianna 2-6 to 1-5 last Sunday morning in Staplestown to reach the division three league final with goalkeeper Adam McLoughlin, Declan Flaherty, Evan Treacy, Kevin O' Brien and Ryan Casey in top form. They now advance to meet Monasterevan in the final (check fixtures for details). The cub held its dinner dance in The Hamlet Court Hotel last Friday night with almost 240 in attendance. The guests included County Chairman, Syl Merrins, vice Chairman Padraig Ashe and Secretary Kathleen O' Neill.There was plenty of silverware on show as the Intermediate championship, senior league div 2, minor and under 16 league trophies were at the top table. The Intermediate team received their medals from Syl Merrins, while captain Mark Fitzharris and vice captain Brian Dunne made presentations on behalf of the players to Secretary Alice Casey and Treasurer Denise Cox.A very enjoyable night was had by all with 'The Men in Black' providing the music. The club is holding its AGM on Thursday 4th December at 8pm in the clubhouse. This meeting will review the clubs performance for the past year and set plans for 2009. We would like to invite all members, both past and present to attend what is the most important meeting of the year. If there is anyone in the area, especially new families who may have moved into the area in recent years, interested in getting involved with the club, as a member, a parent of a child involved, or a parent of a child who would like to join, or if you feel can contribute in any way with the club then please do not hesitate to contact anyone of the officials of the club. There is always enough work for everyone. A full attendance would be appreciated. Fully paid members are only allowed to vote. The annual social members draw takes place on Saturday 13th December in the clubhouse. If you want to be in with a chance of winning ?10,000 for Christmas contact Alice Casey for the last few remaining tickets, which cost ?130 each. The Coill Dubh/St Kevin's lotto draw due to take place on Tuesday 25th Nov was postponed to the following night as a mark of respect to the late Margaret Dowling, Rathangan.Both clubs wishes to take this opportunity to convey its deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the Dowling family. There was no winner of the jackpot, worth ?2,800.The numbers drawn were 6, 16, 21, 23.The ?40 winners were Cindy Treacy Gilltown, Ciaran Young Coill Dubh, Anne Maher c/o Geraldine Kenna and S Russell c/o Betty Dolan.
