Bell aims to become Ladies Chairman
November 24, 2008
Former Kildare GAA PRO Alan Bell is switching codes as he aims to become chairman of the Kildare Ladies Football Association.
Currently the Ladies Football Development Officer for Kildare, the Moorefield clubman believes he has the backing of the majority of clubs in the county and hopes to bring a fresh approach to ladies football.
Among his aims are to improve club fixtures by guaranteeing a new fixtures format and ensuring that games go ahead as planned.
"Before a ball is kicked in 2009 I want to have the format in place - everyone will know what the rules are, everyone will know that games cannot be cancelled at the drop of a hat.
"I will ensure that all county management teams will have the full support of the county board and that everything that can be done, will be done.
"The clubs also need to be treated better and we need to ensure that they have a guaranteed set of fixtures and a fixtures calendar to go with that.
"Part of that process is recruiting enough referees to cope with the number of matches we will have and 24 new people started a referee's course this week.
"There's going to be a clean slate with me. I have a plan of action to put in place for ladies football and I will start from scratch by bringing in fresh ideas," said Bell.
