Kildare GAA have been informed that the redevelopment work on St Conleth’s Park in Newbridge could be delayed up to six months.
The Lilywhites are awaiting a state grant of €3 million which the Leinster Leader reports they were due to receive in the coming weeks.
However, the closing date for applying for the grant has now been pushed forward until the end of April, meaning the Kildare County Board will have to wait until the deadline has passed before they find out whether or not they will receive the grant.
The design work on the redevelopment is alleged to have been completed and ready to go to tender should they get the grant.
The venue was expected to close after the 2019 Allianz League, but it is now expected to stay open until the work begins which if granted will be sometime in the Autumn.
