Eanna O'Connor says he never lost hope that Moorefield could overcome St Loman's in Sunday's Leinster Club SFC final.
The Kildare champions trailed by six points after 59 minutes but reeled off an astonishing 1-4 without reply to snatch the silverware in dramatic fashion at O'Moore Park. O'Connor fired three of those late points, bringing his tally for the day to eight:
"We've been in that position several times before. In the Portlaoise game, we were three points down with five minutes left," he told The Irish Daily Star.
"We really pride ourselves on our battling qualities and we've been there hundreds of times before. I am just delighted for all the lads involved.
"I was looking over at Eddie Heavey afterwards and he was barely able to walk! That just personified the work the boys put in."
