Jack O'Connor is looking forward to another All-Ireland final with the Kerry minors.

The Kingdom will bid to retain the Tom Markham Cup when they face either Tipperary or Kildare next month, a feat which O'Connor claims you would have got long odds on at the start of the year.

"It's great, fantastic to get back to the final and especially with this group because they weren't heralded at the start of the year," the highly-decorated manager said after the semi-final win over Derry.

"But they've improved immensely as the year went on. They showed good bottle out there. They were hit with a fairly serious blow after half-time with the Derry goal, but they've shown all year that there's good stuff in them and they came back strong.

"The goal that Michael Foley got was crucial for us to get back our foothold in the game again."

O'Connor was delighted with Foley's scoring contribution.

"It was a tough day for the likes of Conor Geaney, who got a lot of attention and was marked tightly. Michael Foley stepped up and took the weight off Conor's shoulders," the Dromid Pearses clubman added.
