Kerry fans will be delighted to hear that Colm Cooper's rehabilitation from his cruciate ligament injury is going according to plan.

Speaking to The Examiner at the launch of the All-Ireland champions' new jersey, the Gooch revealed he hopes to be back in the famed green and gold by March.

"The injury is good, it's getting there," he said.

"If I was to put a percentage on it, I would say, I am 80% recovered, just another bit to go and I am very happy with it. It's going really well.

"Realistically, I am still looking at a time frame of maybe March."

The gifted forward admitted it was difficult having to watch from the sidelines during 2014.

"The first few weeks were the toughest, because you are laid up, you are on crutches, you have a brace on your leg and it's hard to see light at the end of the tunnel at that stage.

"But once you get back walking and get back into the pool and getting more active, week on week you are getting better, and start to become a little bit easier.

"But when you get back into the team environment, it helps as well. It's been a difficult season and there were times when you looked at your knee and wondered will I ever get back?

"But once you get back doing any kind of activity, you can see the improvement, week after week.

"Even coming up to the All-Ireland I was doing a lot of the training with the lads, and doing the drills and I was nearly able to do everything the boys were doing at that stage.

"I made massive strides between July and August, and that gave me great encouragement."
