Guthrie admits to bad start

November 20, 2014

Midfielder Wayne Guthrie concedes that Austin Stacks started poorly against Ballincollig.

The Kerry champions trailed by six points after 20 minutes at Austin Stack Park on Sunday but battled back to book a place in the Munster club final with a three-point success after extra time.

"We had a bad start to be fair," the influential Guthrie told The Kerryman. "Usually in our games up to this one we had good starts, but we knew if we kept plugging away that we would turn them over.

"We had been watching them and we knew a bit about them. I would say that it was ourselves that let them into it really. They hurt us carrying the ball a bit but we copped onto it fairly fast in the first half."
