Eamonn Fitzmaurice reckons Tommy Walsh's imminent return to Kerry is an even bigger boost than Tadhg Kennelly's five years ago because he has less "miles on the clock".

The big Kerins O'Rahilly's clubman confirmed yesterday that he is returning home after five years in Aussie Rules and already Kerry fans are salivating at the prospect of having him and a fit-again Colm Cooper back in the Kingdom attack in 2015.

"He is coming back a young man at 26," the Kerry manager is quoted in the Irish Daily Star.

"He's fresh. He doesn't have huge mileage on the clock. He had a bad hamstring injury, but he has no wear or tear.

"He's coming home, and not like Tadhg Kennelly in '09, who was the bones of 30 years of age with a lot of injuries and miles on the clock. He is in good shape.

"He's very lean. It comes from the professional game. Physically-wise, it's a big boost. We are looking forward to getting him back into the set-up. It is exciting.

"Definitely the year you defend an All-Ireland you need something different and new, and the fact that Tommy and Colm are in harness increased competition within the squad, which is what you want."
