O'Donoghue is Sunday Game's Player of the Year

James O'Donoghue has been chosen as Footballer of the Year by The Sunday Game panel.

The gifted Legion forward, who scored 4-24 for Kerry in their victorious All-Ireland campaign, was given the nod ahead of Dublin's Diarmuid Connolly, with Donegal captain Michael Murphy also making the shortlist.

The panel also selected their Team of the Year which included five players each from All-Ireland finalists Kerry and Donegal. Mayo had three representatives, while Dublin had two players - Paul Flynn and Diarmuid Connolly.
