Scoring hero Kieran Donaghy couldn't resist having a pop at RTE pundit after Kerry's All-Ireland final victory over Donegal.

In an interview with the state broadcaster after his crucial 52nd minute goal helped the Kingdom to their 37th title, the veteran forward also revealed how his wife Hilary's "morning juices" had put off thoughts of retirement.

"Joe Brolly told us the production line was finished in Kerry, well Joe Brolly what do you think of that?" Donaghy roared.

"It's a massive performance by the team. It's unreal. It was a tough year for me. I didn't think I'd get back here.

"I persevered and stayed with it. My missus kept me going, making juices every morning and kept telling me to stay with it, that I'd make it back. Huge credit has to go to her, to keep my spirits up when things were hard but it's just a massive win for Kerry."

The towering full forward also hinted that it would be his last season with the Kingdom.

"I'm still overwhelmed. I'm blessed and privileged that I'm part of the Kerry thing. There's 37 All -Irelands now," he continued.

"I'm minding this number 14 and someone else can have it next year. I'm going to be up in the terraces for the next 30 years looking down at other guys wearing it."

Recalling his goal, which was gifted to him by Donegal goalkeeper Paul Durcan, Donaghy said: "I was surprised when I got it and Gooch (Colm Cooper) has been telling me all year 'Star when you get in, pass it to the net'. I passed that one to the net for Gooch."
