Munster JFC: Tipp sack the Kingdom
May 26, 2013
Tipperary 1-15
Kerry 0-11
Tipperary football supporters had something to cheer about at Fitzgerald Stadium as their junior footballers got the better of holders Kerry in the Munster JFC quarter-final.
As reigning All-Ireland champions, Kerry had to field a completely new side this year but the Kingdom were no match for the Premier County who enjoyed a seven-point winning margin.
Former Tipp senior Benny Hickey top scored for the winners with 1-8 and his goal arrived just before the break to leave the visitors 1-9 to 0-5 ahead.
Despite playing against the wind in the second half, the visitors matched their opponents stride for stride as both teams hit six points apiece.
