Paidi fears for Kerry

The late Paidi O Se
Former Kerry manager Paidi O'Se is concerned that Kerry's dominance in Gaelic football may be over for a few years at least.

The shock defeat to Down brought an end to their reign as champions, while they along with Tyrone have been the dominant force in the game for that past decade.

O'Se, who guided the Kingdom to two All-Ireland SFC titles in 1997 and 2000 feels that the rebuilding process may take the best part of a decade.

"I now fear that Kerry's great 10-year spell of success is at its end and that considerable rebuilding will have to be done," said O'Se.

"When you think back to the last great Kerry era of dominance, when the team I was part of was lucky enough to have won eight All-Ireland title in 12 years, it then took another 11 years to win another. I truly hope it won't be like that this time."
