Ó Sé: Players need to be looked after

Kerry's Darragh O'Se
Kerry legend Darragh Ó Sé believes that players and referees need to be looked after in a better way by the GAA.
Ó Sé, who recently announced his retirement from inter-county football after an illustrious career with the Kingdom, said that players needed to be better rewarded for the time they put in, but said he was opposed to any kind of payment for them.
"I think players could be looked after a bit better," Ó Sé told the Kerryman newspaper.
"I wouldn't support 'pay for play' but I would look after lads better. The players are the biggest assets, they fill Croke Park with 80,000 people. Give them trips away or some incentive. Maybe play some National League games abroad, something like that."
He also stated that officials needed better looking after and touched on the fact that their continued recruitment was vital to the game's future.
"Referees should be treated better and given more perks. It's a tough job, and it's probably the most crucial job at the moment. We all give out about referees but it's very hard for them to get it right but I think the rewards for them should be greater too," added the An Ghaeltacht.
Meanwhile, Kerry selector Ger O'Keefe has said that the Kingdom are expected to have their full panel back in training this week - with the exception of Tomás Ó Sé and Mike McCarthy - meaning that there will be long-awaited returns from Colm Cooper, Tom O'Sullivan, Marc Ó Sé and David Moran since Jack O'Connor's team defeated Cork in the All-Ireland SFC final in September last year.
