McCarthy set for dramatic Kerry return

Kerry's Mike McCarthy
Mike McCarthy is poised to end his inter-county retirement and make a dramatic return to Kerry football squad. The former star full back quit the inter-county scene at the age of just 27 after the Kingdom's 2006 All-Ireland final triumph over Mayo. He has continued to play for his club Kilcummin since then, but had ignored a number of requests to return to the county fold until now. Kerry manager Jack O'Connor has promised radical changes to his team after last Saturday's crushing Munster SFC semi-final replay to Cork, and it would be no surprise to see McCarthy coming into the reckoning for the All-Ireland qualifiers.
