Fixture clash disappointing, says Conway

Kerry County Board chairman Jerome Conway has admitted that he is disappointed with the clash of fixtures between their senior inter-county teams this Saturday. Kerry's hurlers will play their Christy Ring Cup semi-final replay at Austin Stack Park, Tralee at 2.00pm, while Jack O'Connor's footballers travel to Pairc Ui Chaoimh for their Munster SFC semi-final replay with rivals Cork. "It's disappointing," said Conway. "As I'd love to be at both games, but there's nothing we can do about it. You couldn't legislate two replays. "The final of the Christy Ring is fixed provisionally for the following weekend. Providing that Derry beat Down in the Ulster championship that's when the final will be and while that seems unlikely you can't just presume that that's the way it will go. So we had to play the game this weekend," the chairman explained. As for the possibility of a poor turn-out at the hurling fixture as a result of Kingdom fans travelling to Cork, Conway believes it won't be an issue. "The hurling people will support the hurling and I think they'll do so in good numbers," he added.
