Kerry's Tommy Walsh breaks away from Kevin McGuckin of Derry during the NFL Division 1 final at Croke Park
Tommy Walsh remains hopeful of lining out for Kerry in Saturday evening's Munster SFC semi-final replay against Cork at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. The Kerins O'Rahillys clubman was forced off with a recurrence of an ankle injury after only 11 minutes of last Sunday's drawn encounter, and left Fitzgerald Stadium on crutches. He underwent a scan in Dublin yesterday, but revealed that he won't have the results until later in the week. "They think it's lateral ligaments, but I went for a scan in Santry and I will know more later in the week," the current Young Footballer of the Year said. "I came into the game with the injury. It responded well to treatment and I was feeling fine, but I went over on it again. "I took a stupid shot with the first ball I got and turned awkwardly on it. I tried to run it off, but the pain was just getting worse so I had to come off. "I had it heavily strapped, but it just didn't work out. It feels the same now as it did at this stage last week, but it didn't hold up then so it might just need time." Walsh admitted that it took Kerry time to adapt last Sunday in the absence of him and fellow 'Twin Tower' Kieran Donaghy in the full forward line. "The option of hoofing in the ball was gone, I suppose, but they adapted well," he said. "When it counted at the end, they stood up and got the scores when they were needed. They're all good footballers and they can adapt to any situation. "There has been a big full forward for the last three years, but you saw that Bryan Sheehan came in and did a good job. Nobody's indispensable - we have a big panel and that's what it's there for."
