'Mickey is our Mick' - Darcy
September 20, 2008
Tyrone GAA Chairman Pat Darcy is convinced that O'Neill County boss Mickey Harte's managerial ability and record is on a par with football legend Mick O'Dwyer.
Harte will remain in the hot seat 'till 2010 by which stage he will have served Tyrone teams non-stop for a whopping 20 years.
"People go on about Mick O'Dwyer," Darcy explained. "Mickey may not have won as many All-Ireland seniors, but I don't know that Mick O'Dwyer has won at all the levels Mickey has.
"Mickey has won minor, college football, Under 21s, Ulster with Errigal (Ciaran). He has a broad comprehensive record of success across the board.
"We are very lucky and proud to have him. We reappointed him for three years. He had a year to go and we were feeling we would need to think about reappointing him.
"It didn't even go to a vote. He was committing to us and we were glad to have him."
