O'Shea warms to versatility of stars

Kerry manager Pat O'Shea
Kerry football boss Pat O'Shea says there has never been a grand plan to move Colm Cooper further from the posts and, instead, insists that the player's own intuition has seen him become just as much of a supplier as an executioner up front in recent times. O'Shea says the gravitation of Cooper out from his traditional corner-forward berth in some matches is a reflection of the player's own football intelligence and reaction to certain circumstances which emerge in matches. "These guys are experienced players," said O'Shea. "They have liked the responsibility that's on their shoulders. "Personally, I like players to be able to make decisions for themselves, to be able to think on their feet and assess a situation as the game goes on, to be able to weigh up situations and know that the right decision is. "If you have players like Colm Cooper or any of the other fellas on our team, they are very comfortable in different positions and they are comfortable in the way they can actually get more involved in the game."
