Kerry survived a major scare against Cork in last night's Munster MFC semi-final but the result was all that mattered to manager Peter Keane.

The Kingdom's bid for a fifth All-Ireland MFC success in-a-row remains intact after substitute Jack O'Connor came to the Kingdom's rescue with a late match-winning point in Tralee.

"Tonight isn't about anything other than winning," he remarked to The Irish Examiner shortly after the final whistle was sounded in their 1-11 to 1-10 win.

"This is a semi-final, there is no backdoor. It was all or nothing tonight. Now, we have football until the end of July, Cork don't. That is a pity for them, but it is great for us that we progress into the summer.

"It probably shouldn't have come down to Jack kicking the winner at the end, but you will make mistakes. The football is a lot closer to U16 than it is to U18 - U18 is closer to senior where you get fellas to close out games better."
