Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice believes that the experience that his younger players are getting in the NFL is invaluable.

The Kingdom went down to Monaghan last weekend in another tough encounter, which was their first loss of the campaign so far.

Despite the defeat, Fitzmaurice is adamant that these games will stand to the likes of David Clifford, Sean O'Shea, Jason Foley, Micheal Burns, Killian Spillane and Matthew Flaherty.

"It's great for the lads to be getting exposed to these games. We've had two tough away games against Mayo and coming up here to Monaghan and a tough home against Donegal as well, who've been going very well so getting the lads game time in those situations is a good thing going forward," Fitzmaurice told the Kerryman.

"They learn about the pace and the physicality of Division One and what playing against the top teams is like, and I think they learn that if you make mistakes you're going to get punished.

"That's one side of it but they also learn that it's no such of a big deal, that they can survive at this level and they're well able for it."
