Cavanagh keen to keep 'dream' alive

Brothers Sean and Colm Cavanagh and family celebrate with the trophy after Moy's Tyrone IFC final victory over Derrylaughan at Carrickmore

Having picked up his fair share of honours in the game, one would think that Colm Cavanagh would be happy with his haul, but the Tyrone and Moy star would give anything for an All-Ireland club medal.

Cavanagh is just two games away from fulfilling that dream as this Sunday, the Tyrone and Ulster champions take on their Kerry counterparts An Ghaeltacht in the All-Ireland club IFC semi-final at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise.

Moy had been trying for years to win the Tyrone intermediate championship and now that they finally have, their journey is far from over as they have added an Ulster title to their list of accolades for the year and now want All-Ireland glory.

Echoing his brother's sentiments that this is uncharted territory for the club, Cavanagh is determined to make the most of an opportunity that doesn't come around too often.

"All our eggs are in this one basket now. For the likes of myself I don't know if I will ever see this occasion again with the Moy, so we have to try and grab the opportunity with both hands and make the best of it we can," the 30-year-old told the Ulster Herald.

He added: "We can't look past An Ghaeltacht because we know how strong they are. We have to solely focus on the task at hand. But it is understandable that the thought is in the back of your mind stepping out at Croke Park with your club, in a Moy jersey.

"We know it is going to be an enormous task but we have already defied a lot of the odds this past season."
