Ulster appeal leads to postponement of finals
April 11, 2008
The Irish Handball announced the postponement of the DALKIA All-Ireland Finals scheduled for Saturday 12th April consequent to the submission of an appeal to the GAA by the Ulster Handball Council.
The appeal is against the decision of the Handball Central Council to fix the DALKIA All-Ireland 40x20 Senior Singles final for a Leinster venue, leading to the cancellation of the Minor Singles final between Mayo's Stephen Cooney and Meath's Gary McConnell, the Ladies Senior Singles final involving two Antrim women, Aisling Reilly and Fiona Shannon, and the eagerly awaited clash of Cavan's Paul Brady and Corkman Tony Healy in the Senior Singles final. All games were scheduled for O'Loughlin Gaels in Kilkenny, but have now been postponed until further notice.
The Irish Handball Council very much regrets the inconvenience to players, officials and supporters as a result of this postponement. When a decision is reached on the matter, the Council will refund monies paid for tickets or will issue tickets for a re-fixture, as patrons so desire. All remaining All-Ireland semi-finals will go ahead as scheduled on Sunday.
