Corofin manager Kevin O'Brien was obviously delighted to guide his charges to their most recent Connacht club SFC title.

The Galway champions recorded a surprisingly comfortable victory over Roscommon kingpins St Brigid's in the provincial decider last Sunday.

And their manager feels that the extra time victory over defending champions Castlebar Mitchels stood them in good stead for the final.

"We put a lot of work into the preparation. The Castlebar game probably stood to us. We were at a different level," O'Brien stated to the Westmeath Independent.

"A lot of guys picked up knocks in that game and hadn't trained but I was happy that our preparation was good and we started well."

O'Brien did urge an air of caution ahead of their All-Ireland semi-final clash against Dr Crokes next February.

"We are on to another level now and that performance probably wouldn't be good enough in a semi-final. I am very fortunate with the group I have; they are all pushing to make the first 15 and I don't think anyone will rest on their laurels."
