'If we beat Clare, it'll be all praise'

Galway goalkeeper Colm Callanan says he pays no heed to what is written about the team in the media.

The Tribesmen came in for some criticism in certain quarters in the aftermath of their Leinster SHC final defeat to Kilkenny earlier this month but Callanan feels that things will be put right with victory over Clare in today's All-Ireland quarter-final in Thurles.

"Opinions and those sort of comments will always be there. You just try and concentrate on the hurling side of it," Callanan said in today's Irish Sunday Mirror.

"What happens out on the pitch is ultimately a reflection of what you do on the training field so it doesn't matter a bit what's said in the papers or any of that.

"If we beat Clare, it'll be all praise. That's just it. When things are going well I rarely think they're as good as people make out and when things are going badly, they're never as bad as people say.

"You just have to take the rough with the smooth and not get too carried away with any of it."

Throw-in at Semple Stadium is at 4pm.
