Shane Walsh reckons Mayo's Connacht rivals are hell-bent on knocking them off their perch.

Stephen Rochford's charges are bidding to become the first county to complete a six-in-a-row of Nestor Cups, but Walsh believes the other counties will be doing everything in their power to stop them.

"I think every team in Connacht has the motivation to try and stop Mayo," the Galway attacker is quoted in the Irish Daily Star.

"It would be wrong to say it's just us because Roscommon definitely have their own thoughts as to where they want to go in the championship and Sligo would only bite your hand off for another shot at Mayo after last year's Connacht final.

"So there are definitely teams that will want to stop them making history, but I suppose the main thing is just to win your game really, that's all any team ever wants to do."
