Mayo are biggest threat to Dubs, says Walsh

Galway manager Kevin Walsh believes that Mayo are the only team that will challenge Dublin this year and that Stephen Rochford's side have their eyes on All Ireland honours.

Speaking at the launch of the Connacht football championship at the province's GAA centre, Walsh insisted this year's Mayo team are as dangerous as any to have come out of the county in recent years.

Galway will take on Mayo in the provincial semi-final should the Connacht champions come out of London with a win, in a repeat of last year's last four clash between the side.

"Anything can happen but at the minute I would say Mayo are probably, people feel that they're the only team that can take out Dublin at the minute.

"That's where they would be, on the back of last year's performances. Albeit their league was slow starting off this year but when they needed to win, they won. Castlebar were out at the time and management weren't long in, so I'm sure they'll have their eyes firmly fixed on All-Ireland titles.

"I think they're as dangerous as they've been yeah. I don't think they've gone back in any way.

"They've been up there, they're experienced and they have put the Dubs toe to toe. So I would say they certainly feel themselves that they're the best placed to take out the Dubs.

"If you go on last year's form and probably the players they have to come back and stuff like that, they probably are to be honest," said Walsh.
