Donoghue seeks consistency

Micheal Donoghue celebrates All Ireland club success with Clarinbridge.

Galway manager Micheal Donoghue believes that the side need to find more consistency ahead of their opening NHL clash against Cork on Sunday.

The Tribesmen have earned a reputation for not being consistent enough over the years and that is something that the new manager is keen to change.

Speaking to the Tuam Herald, Donoghue stated that he was eager to implement high standards from early on and reproduce those standards consistently throughout the year.

"For us, our main focus is probably to get a bit more consistency into their performance. What we're going to be trying to achieve in the league isn't going to be a whole lot different in the championship in that we want to set high standards," said Donoghue.

"Everyday we want to go out and we want to build on it. Obviously, Kilkenny are the standard bearers and everyone else in the chasing pack is trying to catch up to them.

"The good thing is that Galway are competitive and have been in All-Irelands in 2012 and 2015, so we know we're not too far away. It's our job to try and push it on to the next level."
