Galway add 'a bit more steel'

Galway manager Anthony Cunningham feels that they have learned from last year by adding more 'steel' to their game.

The Tribesmen had to dig deep to see off the challenge of Tipperary to book their place in the All-Ireland SHC final for the second time in four years.

Shane Moloney's winning point late on brought a dramatic game of hurling to a conclusion and as where in the past, Galway may have folded, they certainly didn't do that on this occasion.

Cunningham explained to the Connacht Tribune that they were conscious of the fact that they have faded in games in the past, particularly last year's clash against Tipperary.

"I suppose, this year we tried to instil a bit more steel in them. We were disappointed last year that we lost our shape against Tipperary and we looked at that and how we faded with 10 minutes to go. We just gave up a goal and more or less collapsed," said Cunningham.

"So we looked at that there methodically last weekend and tried to teach the lesson that we had to keep our shape and that you have to keep hurling and put a ball or two over the bar."
