Joe Canning hailed Shane Moloney after he marked his Galway debut with a dramatic late winner against Tipperary.

The little-known sub from Tynagh-Abbey Duniry showed nerves of steel to split the posts in the third minute of stoppage-time and send Galway into the All-Ireland final against Kilkenny on September 6.

"Fair play to Shane Moloney, his first day out really with the seniors," Canning told RTE.

"He had the composure to pop it over (after Canning gave a peach of pass) and win the match for us.

"Shane has been around a good while even though he's still quite young. He's an All-Ireland winning minor captain. He's a good lad; when he got his chance he took it and that's what you want from the subs."

Looking ahead to the final, the Galway talisman said: "It's just another game. It's an All-Ireland final, there's going to be pressure. We'll enjoy the build-up to it and we'll see how it goes for us.

"Our main goal is to win that game the next day."
