Lorcán McLoughlin's return to full fitness means that Jimmy Barry-Murphy will have a full hand to deal with for this Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final against Galway in Thurles.

Selector Johnny Crowley confirmed to The Evening Echo the Kanturk ace McLoughlin, who has yet to feature in the championship due to a shoulder injury he picked up in the league final loss to Waterford, is in contention for a place on the starting 15 which will be announced tonight.

"It's a tremendous boost having Lorcán fully fit again and available to us.

"He certainly adds considerably to our defensive options and makes it even more difficult to select the first 15.

"He has trained well since the Clare game and is raring to go again as are all the other lads and for the first time in a while we have a full hand to choose from.''

Crowley added: This is a huge test for us and, whilst it's great to be in this position, we are fully aware of the potential of this Galway team and how difficult a hurdle they will be.

"They might have lost to Kilkenny in Leinster but in doing so they showed a lot of what they are capable of and if this current bunch of Galway players strike a real good day they can take out any team in the country.

"In the aftermath of that game Anthony Cunningham was very upbeat and they'll believe that they can bounce back against us. and have a big say in the destination of the All-Ireland."
