Goals cost us, says Galway manager

Anthony Cunningham wasn't too downhearted after Galway's defeat to Tipperary.

But for the concession of two goals early in the second half, the Tribesmen may well have come away from Thurles with their second victory of the Division 1A campaign.

"It was a great fight back in the second half, great performances in parts, but we would be very disappointed with giving away two soft goals on the restart," the manager said.

"That can't happen. Defensively we played well all day really, but we have to take the improvement points today and move on."

Cunningham felt his team lacked composure at different stages of the game.

"As a young team, young players, they have to the learning point from that. You have to be more in control, have the ball in front of goals and not to panic or rush," he continued.

"I thought we panicked a bit for five or 10 minutes. You are going to meet top-class opposition like Tipperary every day and you are going to be down in some matches. You are going to get your chances and when you get those chances, you have to be cool under pressure."
