Annaghdown four-timers

December 11, 2014

It's been an astonishing year for the Annaghdown hurlers, who won all four competitions they entered.

Having already won the Galway Junior 1 and Connacht crowns as well as the Tain League, they added the county Junior 'A' final last Sunday with a 1-8 to 0-7 victory over An Spideal in the decider in Loughrea.

It was the sweetest of victories for Michael Geoghegan's men, who had been edged out by Craughwell after extra time in the 2013 final.

Matthias Coleman struck the only goal of the match in the first half to give the winners a three-point half-time advantage that they never looked like surrendering.

All-conquering Annaghdown's next port of call is an All-Ireland junior club hurling championship semi-final against Bennettsbridge of Kilkenny in January.
