St Michaels v Barna Part II

October 10, 2014

St Michael is the patron saint of the sick and I'm sure there were plenty of sick St Michael's supporters the last day. The team was heavily supported in the bookies and led for most of the match until a late collapse. Barna hit St Michaels with four unanswered points to take a 12-11 lead having looked second best for most of the game. In truth St Michaels did get a dodgy enough free kick deep in injury time to salvage a draw. So they'll have to make their way to Moycullen this weekend a few quid lighter and hope the only thing wet in the stands is from the rain and not any last minute paint jobs.

It was no real surprise Barna pushed them all the way with three draws this season in normal time and the bet could be 15/2 we see extra time again. They're just so industriousand fight all the way to the line. Eddie Hoare was excellent in the semi-final but St Michaels will need big performances of power and pace from Eamon O Donnell to help open up a cushion. If St Michaels don't open up a four point gap going down the stretch, we'll be in for another grandstand finish.

Injury news is pretty bad on both fronts with each sides defences decimated. St Michaels are missing centre back Alan Glynn, corner back Eoghan Tummon and wing back Brian Madden. Barna will be missing centra back Paddy Naughton, wing back Caoala Malone whilst Rory Donnellan and Brian Conneely are both doubtful. Lets hope for a fantastic open game then with defences weakened. The thought of the victor going into next weeks final with a weakened side is terrifying and I must admit they havent a snowballs chances of winning against Corofin. However in a week when news emerges that neighbours Salthill might be planning to swamp their catchment areas, lets forcus on the positives of one side reaching their first ever senior final.
Match Betting: St Michaels 4/6, Barna 6/4, Draw 15/2
