Reidy: girls can be proud of themselves

September 05, 2014

Galway ladies football manager Kevin Reidy says his players can hold their heads high after last Saturday's narrow All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Dublin in Mullingar.

"The one thing about it is the girls gave absolutely everything," he said in the Connacht Tribune.

"You know, while they are bitterly, bitterly disappointed, they can be proud of their efforts. And we're very proud of them.

"We're obviously very disappointed, we went up there to win it and it just didn't happen for us. That's sport and that's football. David (Mullaley) and Martina (Cummins) and myself are very proud of their performance that they put in, even though it feel short on the day.

"Look, getting up to Division 1 was the priority at the start of the year and they got there. Obviously, you'd like to be going to the last Sunday in September, but it wasn't to be this year unfortunately."
