Beagh and Ardrahan are through to the last 16 of the Galway SHC thanks to victories over Liam Mellows and Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry at Kenny Park last weekend.

Inspired by Padraig Landers, Beagh scored seven points without reply in the last 20 minutes to edge out Mellows on a 1-17 to 3-8 scoreline in their replay. The city side will now be involved in a relegation scrap along with Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry who suffered a surprise 2-13 to 1-18 defeat to Ardrahan.

Jonathan Glynn helped himself to 0-4 from play as Ardrahan produced a late surge, which yielded injury-time points from Iarla Tannian and substitute Stephen Whelan, to seal their place in the group stages. Tweet
