Galway U21s waiting on Burke

A long-standing hamstring injury is threatening Daithi Burke's participation in Galway's All-Ireland U21FC final showdown with Cork on Saturday evening.

The talented dual star missed the dramatic Connacht final win over Roscommon, but returned for the Tribesmen's shock All-Ireland semi-final defeat of Kildare. However, the injury has since flared up again, and it remains to be seen if the first-choice centre back will be included in the starting XV when it's announced tonight.

"We just don't know if Daithi will be ready to play at the weekend. He made it back for the semi-final win over Kildare after missing the Connacht final, but he has had a tight hamstring since," Galway manager Alan Flynn told the Irish Daily Star.

"At this stage, he is no more than 50-50 to play. He'll get every chance to recover, but if he is not right, we won't chance him."

On the plus side, corner back Eoin Walsh is available again after serving a suspension for the straight red card he received against Roscommon, while David Cunnane and Damien Comer are expected to recover from injury.
