Galway captain Fergal Moore is expected to be released from hospital today after suffering "slight concussion" following a heavy collision with Kilkenny's Walter Walsh during the early stages of yesterday's Allianz Hurling League semi-final.

The Turloughmore defender was treated on the Semple Stadium pitch for 10 minutes before being stretchered off. Walsh suffered a nasty head wound, but was able to resume later in the first half after being patched up.

Speaking to gaa.ie, Galway hurling committee PRO Jarlath Cloonan confirmed that Moore's injury wasn't as serious as first feared.

"He was kept overnight in Clonmel Hospital, and they're going to have a look at the scans today," the former Galway manager said.

"They said that he was concussed and they checked him out this morning to see that everything was okay. I think that he'll be okay. Being kept overnight was more of a precaution than anything else. Slight concussion is what the diagnosis is."

Moore is expected to be back playing in plenty of time before Galway open the defence of their Leinster SHC title in mid-June.
