Ger Loughnane reckons some hurling managers have become obsessed with tactics and science, and is blaming football for it!

Writing in his Irish Daily Star column, the former Clare and Galway manager criticises the current Galway management for making their players wear GPS tracking devices in yesterday's defeat to Kilkenny.

"A lot of (hurling) coaches are now aping football tactics that have nothing to do with hurling," he said.

"It's all about blinding people with science. We saw Galway taking to the field with their players wearing GPS tracking units. Coaches are obsessed with the little details and fail to see the big picture.

"Galway wearing GPS units is an example of the stupid gimmickry that coaches embrace in order to impress the nerds. What people want from hurling is entertainment.

"Fast-paced games played at high intensity. Good man-to-man contests."
