The death occurred last week of Mary McDonagh (formerly Glynn from Fohenagh) Shanballymore, Gurteen, Ballinasloe, after a short illness, Mary (88) was a respected and hardworking lady who enjoyed life to the full right up to her death and retained her interest in and love of hurling.

In 1947 the year before she got married she won a County camogie medal with Fohenagh. Her remains reposed at the Franciscan Oratory Chapel in Mountbellew before being removed to Fr Michael Griffin Church, Gurteen and her remains were interred at Clonkeen-Kerrill cemetery.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1979. She is survived by her sons Pat, Clarinbridge; Liam, Gurteen; Gerry, Castleblakeney, Tony, Mountbellew, Martin, Gurteen; Frank, Mountbellew; daughters Mary Byrne, Dunmore and Noreen Fahy, Abbbeyknockmoy, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law 20 grandchildren, 3 great grand children, brothers Michael, Portlaoise; Marty, Mallow and Frank, Fohenagh, sisters Kathleen Tansey, Ballyforan; Theresa Scahill, Dunmore, Agnes Cannon, Woodlawn and Loughrea; Gretta Coen, Kilconnell, relatives; neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
