Cortoon Shamrocks Gaa club notes
May 09, 2012
A disappointing weekend, of action, for all our adult teams. Seniors were defeated by Salthill-Knocknacarra in the league on Friday night. They went down on a scoreline of 0-15 to 1-6. Junior A team had a day to forget against Annaghdown in their league game on Saturday. Junior C team rounded of the weekend with a 1-13 to 2-3 defeat against Claregalway on Monday evening. Our adult teams take a break from competitive action for the next week or so. Seniors face Kilkerrin-Clonberne away in the John Dunne Cup on Thursday, 17th of May at 730pm. Your support is welcome. Training for seniors is Wednesday and Friday at 8pm sharp in Brownesgrove. Junior training will be on Thursday at 8pm. The club wishes David Coen a speedy recovery from injuries picked up in recent junior game.
U14 team recorded a 0-9 to 1-4 win over Killererin in the league on Monday morning. A fine penalty save from Sean Murphy in the last minute secured the points for Cortoon. Well done to all involved.
Training for all U8, U10 and U12 players continues on Monday evenings at 630pm. Best wishes to all making their First Communions over the next few weeks.
Any local businesses interested in taking up advertising spots in Brownesgrove pitch are asked to contact Mark Gilmore, Chairman, on 0876788975 for details.
Management for all teams are asked to contact Mark Gilmore or Seamus Roache to arrange to collect their keys for dressing rooms in Brownesgrove. They will be locked from this weekend on.
With the club celebrating its 125th year in existence in 2013 we are asking all our supporters, who may have any memorabilia relating to the club, to pass them along to Pa Quinn. All photos, match programmes, reports etc would all be greatly appreciated as we look to compile a history of the club and its achievements over the last 125 years. Plenty of supporters have trawled through their archives to furnish us with items and anything you may have in connection with the club and its achievements is most welcome.
Lotto numbers drawn at the weekend were 1, 15, 25 and 36. There were two match 3 winners who share €100. They were Mark Gilmore, Cortoon and Peter Murray, Lavally. Winner of the Bonus ball draw, in conjunction with the Cortoon Inn, was John Duignan.
